Sprinkles Cupcakes

Sprinkles and cupcakes go together like peanut butter and jam. Or like ketchup and fries.  It is just fitting then that the world’s first cupcake bakery is called Sprinkles Cupcakes. Since opening its first store in Beverly Hills, the company has grown to 8 locations, with many more already in the planning stages.

Thing is though, I don’t live close to any of those locations!  Lucky for us, we can buy Sprinkles Cupcake mix at Williams-Sonoma and make our very own without waiting in a lineup for 30 minutes (it’s THAT popular!).

I got their ‘dark chocolate’ cupcake mix for Christmas last year and have been waiting for the perfect occasion to bake these special treats.  So last weekend my parents and brothers came over to celebrate me quitting my job as well as my parents’ anniversary – pretty good excuse to make these I think!

The cupcakes were very easy to make, and the package comes with the cupcake mix, as well as very simple instructions for making the best frosting. Of course no Sprinkles cupcake would be complete without their signature “dots”, and these confectioners’ dots come in the tube as well.

There are many other flavours that sound very yummy, like vanilla, banana, tangy lemon, red velvet. Maybe I will put these on my Christmas wish list this year?

Let me just say that they were possibly the fluffiest cupcakes I have EVER had!!  Ya think I tricked my guests into thinking I ran over to the bakery to pick these up?

ALL GONE!
