Hi there friends!
Are you all getting ready for Halloween yet? I don’t recall ever really decorating for Halloween before, other than some carved pumpkins here or there. That is partly because a lot of the decorations can be a little tacky (sorry, is that too harsh??).
About 2 months ago I was walking around the Dollarama and saw that all of their Halloween decorations had just come in. It was in that exact moment that I decided THIS IS THE YEAR that I will start decorating for this scary holiday!
So that is how I ended up spending $4 of my hard earned money on a black feathered boa, rubbery spiders and plastic bones and skulls. And I was determined to class it up a bit… well, just a little bit anyways.
The Ghosts and Goblins sign came from an old fall themed scrapbooking booklet that I had laying around in my craft supplies. I think it looks pretty good floating in this empty black frame.
In addition to my Dollarama purchases, I picked up some mini white pumpkins at the grocery store and stacked them up into a tall vase. Throw in a huge fake spider and the cute pumpkins instantly turn into creepy little pumpkins.
As I was arranging the pumpkins I had a few little freakout moments, even though my brain full well knew that the tarantula is 100% fake. Yikes! It looks and feel a little bit too real for my liking thankyouverymuch!
My friend came over last weekend and informed me that the arrangement needed just ONE little orange pumpkin. So Catherine, this orange pumpkin is for you!
And these three angry guys are hanging out on a bed of black feathers. I like to imagine that they collected the feathers from scary black crows in the dark of night. Creepy!
I love the deep black feathers in contrast to the shiny pewter pedestal. Never has an arrangement of plastic skulls looked this classy…
Angry lookin’ isn’t he?
I placed the hand full of plastic bones into a rounded vase and propped another creepy crawly on top of it.
So this is the extent of my indoor Halloween decorating. I’m dreaming up some scary party snacks, and have bought a huge fake spiderweb for our front porch. Oh, and I cannot forget to carve pumpkins!
Do you guys decorate the inside of your house for Halloween?
