Hot Cocoa with Chocolate Spoons

Can you feel the anticipation in the air??  As much as I love the 2 or 3 days of Christmas, I also love the anticipation that builds up in the weeks leading up to the holidays.  We indulge in all our favourite Christmas rituals and treats, we make our homes look pretty and smell good!

When things get a little hectic in the upcoming weeks, why don’t you get your girlfriends together for a movie night? And while you’re at it: make some real hot cocoa!

My very favourite holiday movies are Home Alone (it brings me back to being a kid), Love Actually (I totally always cry during the closing scene narrated by Hugh Grant), and of course The Holiday (Oh the beautiful homes in that movie!!!).

So how do you make these?  Melt chocolate in a double bottom pot.  I chose milk chocolate and some peppermint Aero. Dip the spoons into it and let it sit in the fridge to set.

Pour some steamed milk into your glasses:

Then stir, stir, stir, stir, stir to let the chocolate melt and mix into the milk to make real hot cocoa.

To mix things up a bit I used plain water glasses and made felt sleeves for them. Simply pick the felt colours that you want to use and cut them into strips (I like the girly purple on purple!).

For the snowflake I used a small snowflake punch and punched it out of a strip of purple crafting paper to match the purple felt. Use a hot glue gun to attach the strips at the back of the glasses.

Not only are these cute (at least, I think they are),but protects your hands from the hot glass while still warming up your hands.

Drink up buttercup!

Today I will leave you with TWO questions:

1. What are your favourite Christmas movies?

2. And when can my girlfriends come over for movie night?? The tray is all set!

P.S. Here’s a bonus tip for you guys:  I had a bunch of these left over and can tell you that it is an excellent idea to stir the chocolate into a hot cup of coffee. Just sayin’.

I want to come over and watch Christmas movies and make cookies again! My favourite Christmas movie of all time is Rudolph, and National Lampoons is a close second.
I also enjoy a good splash of cinnamon schnapps in my hot chocolate; granted it has been a very long time since I had any of that around.

My favourite Christmas movie is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. I just watched it on the weekend to help unofficially kick off my holiday season. The only thing that would have made the evening better is one of these yummy looking glasses of hot cocoa! They look amazing!
