I think we can all agree that it is totally acceptable to start my Christmas decorating today, right? Definitely!
I was taking all of our Christmas decorations out of storage the other day to asses our inventory. That way I know what we have, and what I may want to add! We do not have a whole lot of Christmas decorations yet, but I try to add a few things every year to let our collection grow.
Would you like to see how we decorated for Christmas last year? I found just a few photos on my computer that I took around the house last Christmas and it is always fun to look back while I make plans for THIS year. You will see that the pictures were all taken with my old camera… which makes me appreciate my ‘new’ camera all over again.
This is what I called: “The Gold Corner”. I tried to find any gold decorations that we have (whether it is holiday related or not… uhm… Eiffel Tower…..) and group them together.
The glass lamp base opens up at the top and you can put items in it (feathers, shells, whatever!), and these little balls were just small enough to fit through the hole!
These sparkly little pears used to be Christmas tree decorations, but I cut off the strings to let them stand on the table instead. Partridge in a pear tree, anyone?
I love how this picture shows off the granite tabletop so nicely! Which reminds me, I need to tell you guys the story of that table some day.
We did NOT have a Christmas tree last year, but opted for a huge wreath instead. I don’t know if you can appreciate the hugeness of the wreath in this picture, but it was huge and heavy and smelled like a forrest!
Speaking of forrest, I wanted a nice earthy but cozy theme for our front entrance. To add warmth, I placed some soft throws in a woven basket on the floor, and lit candles in the table and in the lantern.
To continue the earthy feel, I placed a random birch branch on the table. And for a pop of colour I threw a bunch of ornaments into a tall cylinder vase.
So that was LAST Christmas! Time to get going on decorating for THIS year!
Do you choose themes for your decorations? Like the “Gold Corner” or the “Earthy Entrance”?
