One of the very best things about blogging is that it serves as a virtual diary. Every time I post, I document a part of my life – and it is wonderful to be able to look back at old blog posts and reminisce! It is equally awesome that friends and family who live far away are able to follow along and keep up to date with what’s going on in my life.
Now, I gotta say, only a small portion of my life gets captured on Revel, as as I was preparing this post I knew full well that some of the best moments of 2018 was not captured on film. But that’s OK, those moments live in my memory. I was LIVING them as they were happening, instead of being pre-occupied with DOCUMENTING them.
Having said that, I do have a wonderful collection of memories from 2018 to share with you today. I guess I am posting this mostly for myself, but it is also a fun way for you guys to get to know me a little bit better!
2017 Was most definitely a banner year for me. SO many blessings, so many experiences, so many things to revel in! Hang in there, this post is long, but the memories it keeps are sweet.
It was also the year that I took the huge leap and quit the job that was sucking the life out of me. I have talked about it before, but since I like to leave it in the past and move on to better things I will just mention that I was working night shifts and that did not foster a life full of revels! I left that job in March and that gave 2018 a kick start to being awesome! And as you will see, 2018 was a major travel year for me – glorious!
During March and April Derek and I visited my family in South Africa! This was his first visit over there and it was amazing to show him where I come from and meeting a lot of the people that I love so very dearly! Not to mention that it is such an incredibly beautiful country.
Then in May we went to Quebec City (gorgeous) to see friends of ours get married.
In June Derek surprised me with a trip to New York City for our first wedding anniversary. It was a super hot weekend, and we walked all over Manhattan, stopping from time to time for an iced coffee or a nap in Central Park.
And who can forget Chicago for the Healthy Living Summit in August! I met some incredible women there and forged some great friendships!
Then there was surfing in Tofino.
And hiking and camping in British Columbia with Derek, my brother in law, and his girlfriend.
Other highlights include lazy days spent with loved ones,
buying my camera, and going on many photographic adventures,
going on lots of walks,
painting our basement and my office and making major progress on creating a home,
many silly and lighthearted moments,
setting up our very first Christmas tree!!
and spending time with the people I love the most in the whole wide world!
I count my blessings every day and am thankful for having a whole year of sweet memories to look back on! I hope that I will stand still to revel in life in 2019 (and remember to proactively create these sweet moments)!
Here’s wishing you a very wonderful, healthy and happy 2019!
